Hi Community,

I have a simple topology: one network, one all-in-one BDRShield Backup Server on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS Linux server, one Windows Server 2022 stand-alone (workgroup) Hyper-V server with 3 virtual machines. All local, no proxy involved. All servers, Windows and Linux, are fully patched.

I configured the prerequisites on the Hyper-V host according to https://support.bdrshield.com/portal/en/kb/articles/prerequisites-to-add-hyper-v-host and all tests checked out using the dedicated service account that I created and which is member of the local Administrators group on the Hyper-V host.

Then I proceeded to add the host as described at https://support.bdrshield.com/portal/en/kb/articles/adding-hyper-v-host-for-backup-in-local-network#Adding_a_Hyper-V_Host.

Problem: the web interface initially says it has successfully added the host and it looks like is is in the process of adding it, but after a couple of seconds the host disappears I get an empty list, no host added. The Integration Services agent does NOT get installed on the Hyper-V host.

I noticed one difference: the video shows Administrator as the user used for adding the host. I suspect it will be the same user under which the Integration Service service will run. I don't want Administrator to be used for running services. I want to use the dedicated service account, which, as I mentioned, has administrative permissions.

Since the backup server is on Linux, do I have to manually install the Integration Services agent, or should it be capable of pushing it automatically?

Has anyone successfully configured a scenario like mine? Is there anything additional that needs to be configured apart from what the documentation says?
