BDRSuite Backup Server: How to Resolve Backup Partially Completed Due to Skipped Files and Folders

Backup Partially Completed Due to Skipped Files and Folders in BDRShield Backup Server

KB ID: 101014
Cause:
The error message "Backup Completed Partially due to files and folder skipped" is encountered during backup operations in the BDRShield Backup Server. This issue can arise due to the following reasons:
  1. Files/folders specified for backup are skipped due to "Read Failure" at the client's side.
  2. Inadequate permissions for the user running the Vembu service, preventing the reading of files for backup.
  3. Unreadable or corrupted files/folders on the client machine, particularly if they are exclusively locked by another application during the backup process.
Solution:
To resolve this issue, please follow the steps below on the client machine:
  1. Navigate to "BDRShield Client Installation Location/report/backup/BackupName-ServerName -skipped.lst" on the client machine.
  2. Open the skipped.lst file. This file contains a list of skipped files during the backup process.
  3. Inspect the contents of "skipped.lst" to identify the reasons for file skipping. If certain files lack sufficient permissions for the user under which the Client agent service is running, grant full permissions to these files.
  4. If some files are found to be corrupted or unreadable regardless of the user account, exclude them from the backup list by editing the backup schedule.
By following these steps, you should be able to address the issue of partially completed backups due to skipped files and folders in the BDRShield Backup Server.
