Troubleshooting: Unable to Install BDRShield Backup Agent (BBA) or BDRShield Client
KB ID: 103083
Issue:
You encounter difficulties while attempting to install the BDRShield Backup Agent (BBA) or BDRShield Client on the target host. This error might occur for various reasons outlined below.
Cause:
The error arises due to one of the following factors:
1. Improper Uninstallation: When adding a Windows Server/Workstation to the BDRShield Backup Server, if the previously installed BDRShield Integration Service (BIS) or BDRShield Client on the target Windows host was not uninstalled or cleaned up effectively.
2. Lack of Reboot: Failure to reboot the Windows Server/Workstation after uninstalling the BDRShield Integration Service (BIS) or BDRShield Client.
3. Residual Installation: While trying to install the BDRShield Client for VMware/Hyper-V/Windows on a Windows machine, the previous installation of BDRShield Integration Service or BDRShield Client was not removed properly.
Solution:
Follow these steps to resolve the installation issues:
1. Reboot: Reboot your Windows server/workstations and then attempt to add your Microsoft Windows Servers/Workstations to the BDRShield Server or install the BDRShield Client for VMware/Hyper-V/Windows on the target Windows machine.
2. Verify "Voltracker" Entry: If the problem persists despite the reboot, check for the presence of the "Voltracker" entry in the Windows registry (path: "SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Voltracker").

Caution: Only proceed with the following steps if you identify entries with "Voltracker" in your registry, as incorrect actions can lead to host machine boot failure.
Step 1: Download the suitable driverutil.exe file for your OS architecture using the provided links.
Step 2: Copy the downloaded driverutil.exe to the affected client machines where BDRShield Integration Service or BDRsuite driver was not removed correctly. Store it in any directory, for instance, "C:\program files\".
Step 3: Open the command prompt with administrative privileges and navigate to the directory containing driverutil.exe (e.g., `cd "C:\Program Files"`).
Step 4: Execute the command "driverutil.exe -uninstall" to uninstall the Integration Service.
Step 5: Once the uninstallation is successful, schedule a reboot of the client machine at a convenient time.
Note: If you encounter difficulties during the uninstallation or if no "Voltracker" entry is found in the registry, get in touch with our support team at
