Problem
Agent installation or deployment fails with the following error:
Error 117109: Unable to download the agent build. Check the server's internet connection, DNS/proxy/firewall settings, and then try again.Cause
This issue occurs when the BDRShield Server is unable to access the internet to download the agent build.
Possible reasons include:
- No internet connectivity on the BDRShield Server
- DNS resolution issues
- BDRShield Proxy not configured or misconfigured
- Firewall blocking outbound HTTPS traffic (port 443)
- Required domains (such as bdrshield.com) are blocked
Resolution
Solution 1: Enable Internet Access (Recommended)
Ensure that the BDR Backup Server has internet access.
Steps:
- Verify internet connectivity: ping google.com
- Verify DNS resolution: nslookup bdrshield.com
- Ensure outbound HTTPS port 443 is allowed in firewall/proxy
- Make sure the following domain is NOT blocked: bdrshield.com
Solution 2: Allow Required Domain
If full internet access is restricted, allow access specifically to: bdrshield.com
This domain is required to download agent builds.
Solution 3: Direct Agent Download (For Isolated Environments)
If the BDRShield Server cannot be given internet access:
- Download the respective agent builds manually from the links given below
- Copy and install the downloaded BDRShield Backup Agent manually on the respective machines/hosts.

*Note: Ensure that the agent version matches the BDRShield Server version.Verification
- Retry agent installation from the BDRShield console
- Confirm that the BDRShield Backup Agent build downloads successfully
- Ensure installation completes without error
Additional Info
- If a proxy is used, configure proxy settings in the BDRShield Server
- Ensure SSL inspection/firewall policies do not block downloads
- Continuous access to required domains is necessary for updates and future deployments
