Enabling Microsoft 365 User Login Support in BDRShield

KB ID: 303017
Overview:
Enabling user access in BDRShield allows Microsoft 365 Organization Users to log into the BDRShield Backup console using their Microsoft account credentials. This access also empowers users to view their individual backup information and recover data as required.
Cause:
User login support for Microsoft 365 is not enabled in the BDRShield BackupServer.
Solution:
Step 1: Add Organization and Enable Login Option
1. Log in to the BDRShield Server console.
2. Go to the "Microsoft 365/Google Workspace" tab.
3. Navigate to "Data Sources" and select "Add Microsoft 365 Organization."
4. While adding an organization, enable the checkbox option: "Create an application for Microsoft 365 User Login into BDRShield and to support BDRShield add-in for Outlook." Save the organization.
  1. If the organization is already added, edit it to enable this option.
5. After enabling the option, provide the BDRShield Server URL in this format: https://(BDRShield Server Hostname/IP Address/Domain Name):6061. Ensure that SSL Certificate for BDRShield Server is enabled to access the web console via HTTPS.
Note: Enabling this option creates an application in the Microsoft 365 organization, which supports:
  1. Microsoft 365 Organization Users logging into the BDRShield Server console with their Microsoft account credentials.
  2. Deployment of the BDRShield Server Add-in for Outlook, allowing users to restore backed-up emails directly from their Outlook interface.
Step 2: Enable User Access in BDRShield Server
1. Navigate to the "Backup Server Tile" and select the "Users" page.
2. Click the "Add User" button, opening the "Add User" dialog box.
3. Choose the option "Microsoft 365 Organization User."
4. Select the Organization, choose the User, and click "Add User."
Note:
  1. Enabling user access requires a BDRShield User with Admin Role (Full Access Privilege).
  2. Ensure all users needing access are added.
Step 3: Sign in to BDRShield with Microsoft 365 Account
1. After user access is enabled, users can log in to the BDRShield Server:
2. Open the BDRShield Server web console using the URL: https://(BDRShield Server Hostname/IP Address/Domain Name):6061.
3. Click "Sign in with Microsoft 365 Account."
4. Enter the Email Address and Password of their Microsoft 365 Account and proceed with the Sign-in.
5. After successful sign-in, users will be redirected to the recovery page.
Step 4: User Recovery from BDRShield Server
Once logged in, users can view their individual backup information and recover data as needed.
