Cause:
The backup failure issue arises when vSphere entities such as virtual machine names, cluster names, datastore/folder/file names, etc., contain special characters like %, &, *, $, #, @, !, \, /, :, *, ?, “”, <, >, |, ;, ‘, etc.
Solution:
To resolve this issue and ensure successful VMware backup, refrain from using special characters in the names of vSphere entities. Use alphanumeric characters and standard symbols that do not conflict with VMware naming conventions.
