BDRShield Automatic Software Update Guide
The BDRShield offers software updates through manual upgrades for BDRShield Servers (Backup Server and Offsite DR Servers) and automatic upgrades for BDRShield Clients. This guide provides steps for upgrading each component to ensure a smooth and up-to-date backup environment.
Step 1: Upgrading BDRShield Offsite DR Server
Windows Offsite DR Server:
2. Right-click on the downloaded build and select “Run as administrator”.
3. Follow the Offsite DR Server installation wizard, clicking 'Next' and then 'Install' to initiate the upgrade.
4. Once the installation is complete, click 'Finish' to close the wizard.
2. Execute the downloaded Offsite DR build using the “sh” command, ensuring root privileges.
3. Choose option '1' to proceed with the upgrade, entering ‘Yes’ or ‘Y’ to continue the installation.
4. Agree to the License Agreement with 'Y' and proceed.
5. Agree to download and install upgrade essentials with 'Y' and proceed.
6. Choose '1' for the installation type, ensuring Offsite DR automatically starts on Linux Server restarts.
7. After the upgrade, choose 'Y' to start Offsite DR immediately, or 'N' to start later.

Note: After finishing the upgrade, make sure that the version and build numbers are updated properly by logging into the Offsite DR Server web console. Check the version number by clicking the question mark ”?” icon in the top right corner and the ”About Us” page.
Step 2: Upgrading the BDRShield Backup Server
2. Right-click on the downloaded build and select “Run as administrator”.
3. Follow the BDRShield Backup Server installation wizard, clicking 'Next' and then 'Install' to initiate the upgrade.
4. Once the installation is complete, click 'Finish' to close the wizard.

Step 3: Upgrading BDRShield Clients
Components like BDRShield Proxy and BDRShield Delegation Service (BDS) are included with the Backup Server by default.
1. Download the BDRShield Client builds and their XML to a folder on the Backup Server.
2. In the Backup Server web console, go to “Data Sources > Manage BDR Clients > Software Updates” and click "Add builds."
3. Browse to the folder with Client builds and their XML, click “List Build File(s),” select the builds, and click “Add Build Files.”

Note: Linux installers[Debian & RedHat] of BDRShield Client for File and Application will be in Zip format. Users have to unzip it and use the "BIN" file along with the appropriate "XML" file for software upgrades.
Step 4: Upgrading BDRShield 360 Server
Windows BDRShield 360 Server:
2. Right-click on the downloaded build and select “Run as administrator”.
3. Follow the BDRShield 360 Server installation wizard, clicking 'Next' and then 'Install' to initiate the upgrade.
4. Once the installation is complete, click 'Finish' to close the wizard.
Note: Older versions of BDR clients(such as v3.0, v3.1.0, v3.1.1, v3.1.2, and v3.1.3) cannot be upgraded directly to the latest version. It should be upgraded to one version after another as follows, and refer to the upgrade path for the download links.
