How to Get Started

Step 1: Download and Install BDRShield Backup Server

Step 2: Create Backup Repository Configuration
Configure local or remote storage options, including DAS, NAS, SAN, or opt for public cloud storage like Azure Blob, S3, Google Cloud, or S3-compatible storage options such as Wasabi or MinIO as your backup destination.

Step 3: Add Mac as a Data Source
Navigate to the 'Servers & Endpoints' tab, then select 'Data Sources -> Mac.' Enter the details of the Mac you want to back up, ensuring that the necessary permissions are in place for access. For more detailed instructions, watch the video linked below.

Step 4: Configure Backup for Mac

1. Specify a backup job name and select your backup repository.
2. Choose the specific files and folders on your Mac to back up.
3. Exclusions (optional): Exclude certain files or folders from backup.
4. Schedule backups to run incrementally or as full backups.
5. Configure retention policies, and encryption
6. Save the backup job, which will run according to your schedule.
7. Manage and monitor backups from the centralized dashboard.

You can monitor the backup progress, edit jobs, view reports, check statuses, and manage backup jobs from a centralized dashboard.

Step 5: Mac Recovery

1. Navigate to the 'Recovery' menu.
2. Select the files or folders to restore.
3. Choose the restore point or timestamp for the recovery.
4. Specify the target location for the restored data (either the original location or an alternate path).
5. Confirm the details and initiate the restoration process.
