Prerequisites:

• Oracle Cloud account and access to the Oracle Cloud Console.
• BDRShield Backup Server Console access.
  

Step 1: Create a Bucket in Oracle Cloud

1. Log in to your Oracle Cloud Console.
2. Navigate to Storage -> Buckets (under Object Storage & Archive Storage).
3. Click Create Bucket.
   
   • Bucket Name: Provide a name for the Bucket.
   • Visibility: Set to Public.
4. Click Create to finalize the bucket creation.
   

Step 2: Generate Access and Secret Keys

1. In the Oracle Cloud Console, go to My Profile -> Customer Secret Keys.
2. Click Generate API Key.
3. Download the private key file for your records.
4. Note the Access Key and Secret Key provided during key creation.
   

Step 3: Add an S3-Compatible Storage Repository in BDRShield

1. Log in to the BDRShield Backup Server Console.
   
2. Navigate to Infrastructure → Backup Repository → Object Storage.
3. Click Create New Object Storage Repository.
   
4. Choose the repository type as S3 Compatible cloud storage
5. Fill in the following details:
   
   • Repository Name: Provide a name for the repository.
   • Service Endpoint: Enter the Oracle Cloud S3-compatible endpoint URL. Format https://<namespace>.compat.objectstorage.<region>.oraclecloud.com        Example https://bmmdchttdpay.compat.objectstorage.ap-mumbai-1.oraclecloud.com/  
   • Credentials:
     
     • Select existing credentials or click Add New Credential.
     • Enter the Credential Name, Storage Account Name, and Access Key.
   • Bucket: Select the previously created Bucket.
   • Cache Location: Choose a local drive for temporary backup storage.
6. Click Verify Connection to test the configuration.
7. Once verified, click Create.
   

Step 4: Verify Repository Creation

• Confirm that the repository is successfully listed under Object Storage Repositories in the BDRShield console.
  

Step 5: Create a Backup Job

1. Configure a new backup job in the BDRShield console.
2. Select the S3-compatible storage repository as the destination.
3. Run the backup job and ensure it completes successfully.

Step 6: Verify Data in Oracle Cloud

1. Log in to the Oracle Cloud Console.
2. Navigate to Object Storage → Buckets → OC_Bucket.
3. Confirm that the backup chunks are uploaded to the bucket.
   

Step 7: Restore and Verify Data

1. In the BDRShield console, initiate a restore operation for the sample backup job.
2. Select a target location to restore the files.
3. Verify that the restored files match the original data.
