Creating Scale-out Backup Repository in the Offsite DR Server

In the Offsite DR Server, a Scale-Out Repository is an advanced storage solution that allows you to combine multiple storage volumes into a single repository. This setup offers enhanced scalability and flexibility, enabling you to manage large volumes of backup data efficiently. Follow the steps below to create a scale-out backup repository.
In the Offsite DR Server, navigate to Infrastructure -> Backup Repository-> Block Storage.
Click on the 'Create New Block Repository' button on this page.

Step1: Repository Name

Enter a name for your repository

Step 2: Repository Type

Scale-out Backup Repository
Choose this repository type if you are pooling multiple storage volumes as a single storage destination in a scale-out configuration. Once the first storage volume gets filled, the backup data will be stored in the next storage volume automatically.
You can add new storage volumes to an existing backup repository anytime and expand its storage capacity without breaking the incremental backup chain.
Notes
Note : In the Offsite DR Server, you have the flexibility to modify your repository settings, from a simple repository to a scale-out repository. This enables you to expand your storage capacity as per your growing backup storage needs.

Step 3: Set Default Repository

Choose whether the repository you’re creating will serve as the default storage or not.

Step 4: Backup Storage Location

If you are going to create a scale-out repository then select or enter the folder path to store the backup data.

Step 5: Compression & Encryption Settings

You can leave it enabled by default, or disable it here if needed.
Once you enter all these details click on 'Create'.
