Version-Based Retention: You can set a specific number of recovery points (versions) to retain. For example, if you configure BDRShield to keep 10 versions, it will retain the latest 10 incremental backups, and any new backup will overwrite the oldest one once the limit is reached.
Day-Based Retention: Alternatively, you can specify the number of days to retain incremental recovery points. This ensures that recovery points are kept for a set duration, such as 14 days, and older recovery points are automatically deleted when the retention period expires.
Once the retention policy is configured, BDRShield will automatically delete older recovery points that fall outside the specified retention window, freeing up storage space. If retention is disabled, all recovery points will be preserved indefinitely, which could lead to increased storage usage.
