How does VMware backup work with BDRShield?

How does VMware backup work with BDRShield?

  1. BDRShield performs agentless VM backups using VMware APIs for Data Protection (VADP), allowing direct interaction with VMware vCenter or ESXi hosts.

  2. It initiates a snapshot to capture the VM's state, including memory, disks, and configuration files, ensuring a consistent point-in-time backup.

  3. The backup data is transferred to a repository, which can be local (NAS, SAN) or cloud-based (S3, Azure Blob, Google Cloud).

  4. After the initial full backup, BDRShield uses VMware Change Block Tracking (CBT) for incremental backups, capturing only changes since the last backup to reduce time and storage needs.

  5. In case of data loss or disaster, BDRShield supports reliable recovery options, allowing restoration of entire VMs, individual files, folders, or granular application-level recovery.
