Overview
The BDRShield v8.1 release introduces significant improvements to the product’s branding, user interface, and security controls. This version delivers a smoother user experience, introduces Restore Authorization, and expands cross-platform compatibility with macOS support.
What's New
Product Rebranding
The product has been officially renamed from BDRSuite to BDRShield, representing a unified identity focused on data backup, defense, and recovery. All in-product visuals, documentation, and web references have been updated to align with the new brand.
macOS Support
BDRShield now extends its backup and recovery capabilities to macOS systems. Users can securely back up and restore macOS data with the same reliability and control available for other supported platforms.
Restore Authorization
A new Restore Authorization feature introduces enhanced data security by allowing administrators to approve and control restore operations of endpoint backup jobs. Only authorized users can initiate or complete restoration activities, reducing the risk of unauthorized access.
Revamped UI & Menu Reorganization
The product interface has been redesigned with an improved layout, reorganized menus, and updated icons for a modernized experience. Navigation has been streamlined to enhance usability and performance across devices.

This update introduces NAS/File Share backup support and UI branding customization. Enhancements include backup repository management, performance optimizations, agent updates (v8.0.0 to v8.0.0 U1), and improved restore workflows. Newly added drives in File Backup will now appear in the recovery timestamp when “All Drive” is selected.

    Allows users to back up a specific share path from the system.
2. Branding
   Allows users to apply his branding configurations in the UI.

Enhancements 

  1. Improved data upload speed from cache location to object storage
  2. Improved BMR Recovery (Disk-Image) performance.
  3. Improved error handling for DB file upload from agent to BDR cloud server.
  4. Users can now edit an existing backup repository and change its location.
  5. Users can now purchase and allocate BDRCloud Storage from the Vembu Portal.
  6. Assign drive letter for System partition volumes is removed on configuring Disk-Image Backup.
  7. Users can now retrieve the download link for BDRCloud Server Restore of Disk-Image backups from the Data Recovery option under the report page.
  8. File Backup – When "All Drive" is selected for backup, any newly added drive after an incremental backup schedule will now be listed in the recovery timestamp, ensuring seamless restoration.

  1. File Level Recovery: Restore individual files or folders from both file/folder level backups and image backups.
  2. Disk Level Recovery: Restore entire disks (for image backups) to recover partition structures and data.
  3. Bare Metal Recovery (BMR): Restore a full machine including OS, applications, and data from image backups.
